Red felt heart with a beige bandage in an X-shape on it, symbolizing healing or repair. White background, simple and emotional.

Rock bottom and estrangement, the turning point you didn't choose.

In addiction circles, you often hear the phrase "rock bottom." It's that lowest possible point where despair takes hold of you, and you feel hopeless and helpless.

For parents facing estrangement, rock bottom may come when you finally realize your child truly won't answer your call... when another birthday passes in silence... or when the holidays bring more dread than joy.

Rock bottom is different for everyone. For some it's the months or years without contact. For others, it's the toll it takes — physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually. And the hardest part is believing you can ever feel whole again.

My own story isn't estrangement, but I do know what it means to hit rock bottom. For my family it was our child's crisis with self-destructive choices. We were all spiraling into despair, and it took us several years to find our way out.

The details were different, but the tools — the inner work, the letting go of denial, the leaning into support — are the same. That's why I'm now walking alongside parents of estranged children, because I know the way out of despair can be learned. And I don't want it to take you years, the way it did for me.

Here's your Call to Action.

You don't have to, nor should you, do this alone.

Estrangement is a heartbreak few people truly understand. The silence, the questions, the grief that lingers — it can feel unbearable.

That's why I've begun a group just for parents of estranged adult children. It's a safe, understanding space where you'll find compassion, perspective, and practical tools to move from helpless to hopeful.

It took me years to climb out of my own pit of despair — I don't want it to take you that long. I've learned the way forward, and I can help you shorten the climb. If this is your rock bottom moment, let this be your turning point. Join us.

Our next event is Thursday, December 4 at 8:00pm ET on Zoom.

We are eager to welcome you into our community.
