If you’re a college student or young adult, summer can feel surprisingly heavy. Between the loss of routine, the "what am I doing with my life" thoughts, and the endless doom scrolling, it’s easy to feel directionless.

Lukin Center is dedicated to continually expanding its reach in helping its clients on their journey to better days ahead. That's why they launched a brand-new summer DBT program for young adults, led by professional clinician Shoshana Levie, LCSW.

This isn't just traditional talk therapy—it's a skills-based program designed to help young adults build resilience, develop healthy coping strategies, and create a life they feel confident and engaged in, rather than one they want to escape from.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a unique form of cognitive-behavioral therapy designed to help people who experience intense emotions. It combines traditional cognitive-behavioral techniques for emotion regulation with concepts of mindfulness, acceptance, and distress tolerance. This powerful combination makes DBT highly effective for treating a range of issues, particularly those related to emotional dysregulation like borderline personality disorder, depression, and anxiety.

Registration is now OPEN for Lukin Center's Summer Intensive DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) program.

What are the four skill modules of DBT?

Mindfulness: Slow down the time between trigger and reaction. Get more present and find joy.

Distress Tolerance: Critical resilience skill to navigate difficult moments through radical acceptance.

Emotion Regulation: Learn to navigate difficult emotions and increase instances of positive emotions.

Interpersonal Effectiveness: Communicate your need effectively and set boundaries. No more people pleasing.

Who is it designed for?

College-age young adults:

  • Feeling directionless

  • Endlessly doomscrolling, even when they don’t want to

  • Having difficulty navigating life transitions

  • Need help managing intense negative emotions
