The Key to Romance? Chocolat! by Lisa Mecray Rogers

Valentine’s Day is almost here…so get some romance in the air! It’s always hard to have time for just the two of you. The kids always seem to have to go everywhere. It’s a great excuse to shuffle the kids off to a friend’s house or to a babysitter.

Good chocolate is always the perfect decadent thing to surround yourself with anytime, but especially for Valentine’s Day. It’s really ok to indulge and do something that will make the both of you smile all day and night!

Did you know?

  • Chocolate has been known to have magical powers, even thousands of years ago. It was reserved for use in marriage and fertility ceremonies due to the belief that had mystical and aphrodisiac qualities. Even the Aztec emperor Montezuma, who had 600 or so wives to keep happy, is reputed to have consumed fifty golden goblets of chocolate a day to enhance his sexual abilities

  • Casanova is even said to have indulged in chocolate before seducing his women

  • Chocolate contains small amounts of several psychoactive chemicals that act as stimulants and mood elevators. When a person eats chocolate, these chemicals act on the nervous system in the same way as they do when the brain releases them. So, eating chocolate may induce some of the same feelings that love does, including sensations of euphoria and feelings of well-being, joy and pleasure.

  • Chocolate impacts serotonin which has an energizing effect. This increased energy may also improve longevity and stamina, which in turn frequently has the perceived effect of increasing libido

Start the day in a perfect way… Get some unique and delicious handcrafted chocolates as special as they are and wrap each piece individually in cellophane or even lace or organza, tie with a satin ribbon and attach a special note to each. Each note can remind them how much you love them. It’s also an opportunity to be really sexy and let them know what’s in store for them wink wink. Put one chocolate every place your significant other will touch during the day…by the bathroom sink, on the dresser, in his/her car, on the pillow…anywhere they will be found throughout the day. Great idea, right?

Chocolate is also perfect to work into every meal of the day for that extra bit of romance. Try these…

After dinner, watch the perfect romantic movie, Chocolate, starring Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp. It’s On Demand and Netflix right now. For dessert, enjoy a perfect pairing of chocolates with a bottle of French wine. It’s only right since this movie is set in the South of France! Ask me for ideas.

And of course, there is the dessert afterwards (hopefully!). Ever try chocolate body paint?

Enjoy your Valentine’s Day! You deserve it.
