Fall Farm Fun & Hayrides


Rohsler’s Nursery

📍 Allendale, NJ

Kick off fall with a classic hayride through Rohsler’s 16-acre nursery and horse farm. Kids can visit the barnyard animals, explore the children’s maze and play carnival games. Admission includes a sugar pumpkin and cup of fresh apple cider.

Saturday & Sunday | 10 AM–4:30 PM


Secor Farms

📍 Mahwah, NJ 

Includes a scenic hayride to the pumpkin patch, two corn mazes, a petting zoo, and a hay maze. Pumpkins are additional. Advance online tickets are required on weekends. The farm market also has apples, fresh-pressed cider and homemade cider donuts.

Saturday and Sunday 10 AM–4:30 PM.


Abma's Farm Market, Greenhouse, and Barnyard Petting Zoo

📍 Wyckoff, NJ

Take a scenic hayride through the farm fields to the pumpkin patch and pick the perfect pumpkin to bring home.

All weekend • Market hours

Market: Free entry (pay per purchase)

Barnyard/petting zoo: Small admission fee per person


Demarest Farms

📍 Hillsdale, NJ

Make it a classic fall farm day with seasonal apple and pumpkin picking, fresh cider, cider donuts and a stop at the farm market. Then come back after dark—the farm’s Halloween Light Show opens Saturday night, with acres of Halloween-themed lights to drive through.

Stokes Farm

📍 Old Tappan, NJ

One of Bergen County’s longtime family farms, Stokes Farm is a great stop for locally grown produce and seasonal farm fun. Fall activities can include pumpkin picking and hayrides (check website).

Saturday | 10 AM–6 PM • Sunday | 10 AM–3 PM


Festivals and Halloween Fun


Ridgewood Halloween Maze

📍 124 Sheridan Terrace, Ridgewood

A handcrafted 1,000-square-foot backyard maze with loops, dead ends, trap doors and Halloween characters.

Free: Opens Saturday, October 3

*It gets scarier after dark!


Illumination 250: Family Fun Day

📍 Anderson Park + Downtown Hackensack

A huge FREE celebration featuring a Family Fun Festival, live music, cultural performances, giant puppets, food tastings, Hackensacktoberfest and an evening light installation.

*The Family Fun Festival runs from 10 AM–2 PM.

Shop local produce, baked goods, specialty foods, crafts, and artisan products. The popular and family-friendly markets run on weekends (check weekend schedule) throughout the season and are always a popular family outing.

Parks & Nature Centers


J.A. McFaul Environmental Center

📍 Wyckoff, NJ

An 81-acre environmental park featuring scenic walking trails, gardens, a duck pond, and wildlife habitats—perfect for a peaceful family outing. Great for birdwatching, nature walks, and outdoor learning.

Open daily (weather permitting)

Franklin Lakes Nature Preserve

📍 Franklin Lakes, NJ

Enjoy a relaxing day on the water with kayak, canoe, and paddleboard rentals from Ramsey Outdoor. After paddling, explore the scenic lakeside trails, boardwalks, and picnic areas at one of Bergen County's most beautiful nature preserves. Perfect for families, couples, and outdoor enthusiasts!

The Celery Farm

📍 Allendale, NJ

A beautiful 107-acre freshwater wetland preserve offering peaceful walking trails, birdwatching, and scenic nature views. One of Bergen County’s top wildlife habitats—perfect for a quiet family nature walk.

Tenafly Nature Center Trails

📍 Tenafly, NJ

A peaceful nature preserve with wooded walking paths and a nature center—ideal for a family hike and outdoor exploration anytime this Memorial Day weekend.

🍎 Apple Cider Making

Get into the fall spirit and learn how fresh apple cider is made! Families can help use the press while learning about apples and the history of cider making.

Bergen County Zoo at Van Saun County Park

📍 Paramus, NJ

The Bergen County Zoo is open daily (10:00 am – 4:30 pm; last entry at 4:00 pm). Explore indoor and outdoor animal exhibits, plus the Education & Discovery Center for hands-on learning.

Carousel + Train (inside Van Saun Park)

OPEN for the season (weather permitting)

Hours: approx. 10:00 am – 5:00 pm (last tickets ~4:45 pm)

Cost: about $3 per ride


Saddle River County Park Bike & Walk Paths

📍 Bergen County, NJ

Enjoy miles of scenic paved paths perfect for biking, walking, or scootering. A great way to get outside and enjoy the spring weather with playground stops along the way.

 Overpeck County Park

📍 Leonia, Ridgefield Park & Teaneck, NJ

One of Bergen County’s largest parks, spanning Englewood, Leonia, Palisades Park, Ridgefield Park, and Teaneck, offering scenic waterfront walking and biking trails, playgrounds, picnic areas, open fields, and beautiful views along Overpeck Creek. Families can enjoy biking, scootering, playground time, wildlife spotting, or simply relaxing outdoors.
