10 Empowering Things to Do This Summer by Randi Levin, CPC, Life Transition Coach

10 Empowering Things to Do This Summer by Randi Levin, CPC, Life Transition Coach, Ridgewood Moms

Think summer is just for vacation and being outdoors? Nope. It is the IDEAL time to invest in the power of the unknown and in next steps yet achieved. Read on for the ultimate list on real life things you can do RIGHT NOW to kick things up a notch in your business and in your life!

  1. Give: Simply stated, what are you doing for other people? Where can you connect a friend to a business contact? Where can you elevate your time spent with your children so that it is more focused and memorable? Can you do a pop-up party and spontaneously invite a few friends to reconnect? Giving is the bridge toward unlocking your soul. You don’t have to write a check or clear off your calendar. Challenge yourself to think of ways to connect and to be the connection.

  2. Make a decision: Sounds simple. When was the last time you did? We all over think from time to time, or get into a rote-mode or rut-mode! Push yourself to choose a next step that you have been putting off, or a choice that you logically know is next, yet have not invested in. Choose it and then do it. Now.

  3. Recharge: What are you doing for yourself? Interested in jet skiing on the Hudson River, or vacationing in a new city, or taking that new exercise class that you have never heard of before? Get out your calendar and commit to the hobby or event that will put a smile on your face. Buy the tickets! If recharging for you is to decompress, then drop your phone (after reading this) and unplug for 24 hours. You know you want to…

  4. Become an author: Write a blog post for LinkedIn, write a few snail mail thank you notes instead of emails, start a journal recapping your vacation, your summer, your successes. Journal with your daughter. Taking your thoughts from head to paper reframes them and positions you to let go and move ahead. Pen to paper…GO!

  5. Invest in something. Invest your time where you have not allowed yourself before. Invest your money in something that has long term per use or per wear. Invest in yourself to hire a housekeeper, a personal trainer, an assistant, or a life coach. The important thing is that you make the decision to make the investment because you are worth it. Being worth it is empowering. Celebrate that.

  6. Smile: I hope you are smiling because you just read that! What makes you smile? What gives you energy and excitement? This can be the simplest of jokes, time with a significant other, meeting a stranger, trying something new, enjoying something old. How many times can you smile today? It is contagious so challenge yourself to count your smiles and to build upon them each and every day. This is a quick energy boost and inspirational interlude.

  7. Celebrate nature: I like to power walk and hike and doing so not only has me bonding with nature, it also allows me to be creative and to think differently. Go outside. Discover the lake, swim in the ocean, walk in your neighborhood, barbeque and eat outside. Bring summer into your life. Nature gives back in meaningful ways and you don’t even have to ask…all you have to do is indulge.

  8. Dump: Give away or sell clothes, clean out your kitchen cabinets, update your computer files with only the content you need, revise your lists and contacts. Letting go now allows you to let in later. Prep for fall by organizing your life.

  9. Create an experience: Just to clarify this does not have to break the bank or take months to plan. Creating an experience can be as simple as inviting friends over for a themed party or taking a day to explore a local town or event with your family or by yourself. Creating an experience for yourself means that you are being purposeful and focused on everything from scheduling the experience, to executing it. Creating an experience is a commitment to take a next step on something that has meaning to you.

  10. Stay in the conversation: Where can you take action now to follow up a meeting, a networking event, a phone call? Where can you reach out and reconnect to a person or situation that you let slip away? Where can you listen to your own intuition and stay true to the voice and inner truth you hear? Connection is empowering and it starts with YOU!
