The world needs and wants your child for all their goodness, creativity and talents yet to be uncovered.
It doesn’t matter what their gifts and limitations are.
What matters is their willingness to grow into whatever their potential may be.
Being the caretakers and guides to these budding citizens of a brave new world is challenging.
Parents in my world know that I can’t and won’t promise them an easy journey.
Just as they can’t promise their children an easy time of growing up.
As I couldn’t. I couldn’t protect my children from life, even though I wanted to.
And when I tried to micromanage life for them, I took away their opportunities to grow and thrive.
I wish I knew then what I know now.
So instead of regretting the past, I do better now. Not perfect. Better. Better is better.
And I share it all with you.
Here’s what I CAN offer you:
· Hope that things can change.
· Possibilities for change.
· Reassurance that when you do the work, something will change.
· It may not be what you intended… and it just might be better than you intended.
· When you change how you show up (for your family and for yourself), others adjust.
This happens when you show up and do the work.
You’re stronger than you think.
What I can tell you, from my own experience is…
Waiting for the ‘right time’ to start doesn’t get you what you want and certainly doesn’t help your child.
There is no right time. There is only now. Period.
The best way to get what you yearn for is to jump in.
Walk through the door.
The new place is scary. It’s confusing and uncertain.
Walk through the door anyway.
It terrified me when I had to do it.
I learned that I’m stronger than I ever thought.
I don’t regret one minute.
And it’s the reason I’m here now and get to share it with you.
I know your children are everything to you.
Keep going. They are your life and your legacy.
They’re waiting for you to do this for them.
